Peter Swanson - Studio Potter
Peter Swanson has been potting in Cornwall since 1976. He works in high-fired reduction stoneware. His pots are glazed with ashes from different plants and woods such as Japanese Knotweed – which gives a wonderful pale blue glaze – Beech, Pine, Lavender etc and also various granite dusts. These natural materials give Peter's pots beautiful elemental colours. As well as a gas kiln, in 2005 he built a wood-fired anagama kiln. He fires to 1325 degrees to achieve the exceptional surfaces and textures which distinguish his work.

For everyday use we are very pleased to offer Peter Swanson's domestic ware, on which we can take orders. Having been high fired, the domestic ware is dishwasher proof and the baking dishes are suitable for oven baking.
Peter's studio pots include squared bottles, large dishes and jugs with stunning shiny and textured Japanese glazes, striped pours and simple dynamic markings.
Peter Swanson's domestic ware and one-off pots are available at Sladers Yard.
