Makeba trained at the Royal College of Art, followed by a spell as a founder Fellow of the Ann Sutton Foundation. She currently combines her time as a maker (setting up her own company Makeba to produce digitally designed textiles for production on a Jacquard loom as well as hand woven items) with her role as senior lecturer at University Falmouth.
